Sicily once again reaffirms its vocation as a land of myth and eternal beauty. The Sicilian Region’s Department of Tourism, Sport, and Entertainment has officially included the eighth edition of the 2026 Stone Theater Opera Festival in its prestigious calendar of major tourist events. This invaluable institutional recognition definitively establishes the festival as a nationally recognized artistic excellence and a powerful driving force for international promotion and the attractiveness of the entire island.
Building on the resounding success of previous editions, which recorded an all-time record of over seventy thousand attendees, the festival prepares to inaugurate its most ambitious season yet under the evocative slogan “Caresor Eternity.” From July 12 to September 18, 2026, more than forty extraordinary events will enliven Sicily’s most fascinating caves and archaeological parks. The sacredness of the millennia-old stone will blend seamlessly with the powerful vibrations of great music, offering audiences truly unforgettable nights.
Among the highlights is undoubtedly the majestic and innovative production of Giuseppe Verdi’s Nabucco, brought to life by an international cast on the timeless stages of Syracuse, Tindari, and Taormina. Further enhancing an already rich program will be the civil preview of “Lu scrusciu di l’anima” at Monte Jato, the world premiere of Mozart’s Requiem in mystically alluring venues such as the Andromeda Theater and the Temple of Hera in Selinunte, as well as moving tributes to giants such as Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer, Ludovico Einaudi, and a fitting spiritual tribute to the eightieth anniversary of Franco Battiato’s birth.
With a program that masterfully intertwines operatic tradition with modern artistic languages, the 2026 Teatri di Pietra Opera Festival firmly positions itself as the key event of the Mediterranean summer. It’s an open invitation to all travelers: choose Sicily to experience history in the very places where art transforms into pure eternity.
