From May 15 to 17, 2026, the beating heart of the Madonie Mountains is ready to beat to the rhythm of nature. San Mauro Castelverde, a picturesque village near Palermo, will transform into the Sicilian capital of adventure by hosting the Madonie Outdoor Fest. This unmissable three-day event celebrates slow tourism and showcases the extraordinary landscapes of the Sicilian hinterland.

Organized by Madonie Travel Service in collaboration with the Municipality and supported by funding from the PNRR “Borgo Vivo” call for proposals, this festival was born with a very specific mission: to demonstrate that the Madonie Mountains are not just a destination for those passing through, but a true ecosystem of opportunities for sustainable and conscious tourism.

Beyond Adventure: The Inaugural Conference
The festival will not only be pure action, but also a crucial moment for reflection on the future of the region. The event will open on the afternoon of May 15th with the institutional conference “San Mauro Castelverde and the Madonie: between accessibility and slow tourism.”

Moderated by journalist Elisa Donatini, institutions, associations, and industry professionals will sit down to outline the guidelines for the “mountains of tomorrow,” combining the ambitious challenges of the international market with the preservation of local roots.

Nature without barriers: a festival for everyone

One of the founding values of this edition of the Madonie Outdoor Fest is inclusivity. Nature must be truly accessible to all, without obstacles.
For this reason, the event promotes the use of the Joëlette, a special one-wheeled off-road wheelchair. Thanks to this innovative tool and the assistance of expert guides, even those with limited mobility will be able to explore the park’s trails, breathing in the pure air and enjoying the pristine beauty of the Madonie.
