If you want to immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere, here are some of the best Christmas fairs in the region

The Christmas markets are among the major during the Christmas period, with their souvenirs, decorations, local crafts and delicacies to savor. Sicily, especially in recent years, has seen the birth of numerous Christmas fairs, each characterized by something unique.

In Palermo there are several Christmas fairs. The most characteristic is certainly La Cittadella dell’Artigianato which takes place in Via Magliocco, a side street of Via Ruggero Settimo, in the historic center of Palermo, from December 5 to January 8. Here, in the characteristic wooden stands, you can find many handicrafts in an atmosphere that wants to recall, on a small scale, the large Christmas fairs that take place in Northern Europe. An absolute novelty this year is the Christmas Village inside the Fiera del Mediterraneo, where there is an ice skating rink of over 1500 square meters.

Two Christmas fairs are also set up at the Palagiotto and in Viale Regione Siciliana: in both cases among the main attractions there are the numerous rides. Inside the Villa Filippina Park, on the other hand, there is NataleLandia, with an ice skating rink and a food and shopping area.

Among the markets in the province of Palermo, we point out Natale al Parco, which takes place at the Parco Cittadino Almoad in Carini, with entertainment, magic shows and a food area.

In Catania there is the largest Christmas-themed theme park in Southern Italy: Christmas Town.  Inside the Le Ciminiere Exhibition Center , a Christmas city full of attractions is created: ice skating rink, three theaters simultaneously with Magic Show, Musical and the Christmas Circus, the toy factory, Santa’s big house, the Christmas Cinema, the play areas set up by Lego, Barbie and Hot Wheels,  the Christmas big balls, the carousels, the Ferris wheel and the parades along the streets of the exhibition center. The park is open from December 7 until January 6.

Also in the city of Etna, from November 27 to December 28 there is also the Christmas Market at Villa Pacini. Here you can find original gift ideas, including unique handmade items, vintage and second-hand garments. The little ones can have fun and learn with the creative workshops, while in the evening there are shows and live music.

In the province of Catania we point out La magia del Natale, from 8 December to 6 January at the PalaGiarre. Here too you will find many craft stands but also themed areas, games and shows. You can also see the Living Nativity and the Elfs’ Laboratory.

In Messina the Christmas market takes place from 8 December to 6 January. In the province of Messina, very interesting is the Mulino di Babbo Natale, set up in Novara di Sicilia, since 2004 one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. The water mill with horizontal wheel in  the Giorginaro district is set up with a Christmas theme and a special “miller elf” will accompany visitors inside to let them discover the ancient structure. A return to the past that joins the traditional Christmas market and the refreshment area “La Taverna degli Elfi”.

In the province of Trapani, EricèNatale is particularly suggestive: the town is filled, in fact, with small and large nativity scenes, which are set up both in churches and in private homes, alongside the large monumental mechanical nativity scene. In Piazza della Loggia there is the Christmas market, among stands of artisanal products and food. The streets of the town will echo with the melodies of the bagpipers.

In Agrigento, the stalls are installed between Piazza Marconi, Villa Bonfiglio and Viale della Vittoria from 13 to 24 December. In the province of Agrigento, in Racalmuto every evening from 16 to 24 December the bands of the town walk through the streets of the town playing popular Christmas songs.

Installations, concerts, shopping, workshops for children, street food and much more is organized in the historic center of Enna with Ènnatale.

Traditions, scents and flavors in Caltanissetta, with the Christmas Markets in Corso Umberto I, from 13 to 29 December.

In Syracuse, the Franciscan Christmas Market, created by the Frati minori cappuccini inside the cloister of the city’s convent, is worth mentioning. In the province, the shack of Noto is the backdrop for a market with typical products, delicacies and music.
