Let’s discover the “Land of inlets” with its beautiful sea just a few minutes from Palermo airport
In Sicily there are beautiful beaches everywhere, also easily accessible for tourists arriving by plane because they are close to the airports. Among the most beautiful are, certainly, the beach and the coves of Terrasini.
The town in the province of Palermo is located just 15 minutes from the Falcone Borsellino airport and overlooks the beautiful Gulf of Castellammare. Directly from the Terrasini seafront, a few steps from the city center, you can reach the Praiola Beach. The beach is enclosed in a small bay and can be reached via a staircase that also offers a magnificent view of the gulf. Its fine light sand and crystal clear waters, with limestone rocks that emerge in some places, make it a spectacle for the eyes. The bay is also surrounded by high rocks that make it even more suggestive. The beach is free but there are also some beach establishments that also offer food and sports activities, with the possibility of renting pedal boats, surfboards and kayaks.
The Praiola Beach is magnificent even at sunset, like the entire coast of Terrasini, which has not been called the “City of Love” for nothing. From the coast you can see the sun setting over the sea with the stacks in the background.

Terrasini is also famous for its numerous coves, so much so that the origin of its name derives from the Latin “terra sinorum”, which translates into “Land of inlets”.
The closest to the Praiola Beach is Cala Maidduzza: these are two very small beaches composed mostly of rocks and with a crystal clear sea. Another cove famous for its beauty and crystal clear waters is Cala Rossa. Homonymous of the famous beach of Favignana, it actually has a very different structure. It is a cove that is located between two high cliffs whose reddish color gave the beach its name. Also in this case you reach the cove through a staircase. The crystal clear waters are perfect for snorkelers and divers. The seabed is very rich in fish. The numerous outcropping rocks also make it the ideal beach for diving enthusiasts.
Along the coast of Terrasini it is easy to find other small coves where you can take a swim in the crystal clear sea. In addition, nearby, there are also the beaches of Magaggiari (in nearby Cinisi), San Cataldo and Ciammarita. There is certainly no shortage of places to dive into the blue waters of this magnificent Sicilian coastline.
If you land at Palermo Falcone Borsellino Airport and want to enjoy a wonderful day at the beach, go to Terrasini to discover the splendid beaches that can be found in Sicily!
